These are the supplemental readings and videos assigned as homework through the eight weeks of Encounter Discipleship. Two of them — Walter Beuttler's The Manifest Presence of God and Brother Lawrence's The Practice of the Presence of God — are also printed in full inside the Student Manual as Appendix B and Appendix D. They are offered here as separate downloads so you can read them on any device, or share them with a group. Everything on this page is free.

• Weeks 1–3 — The Manifest Presence of God, Walter Beuttler. Read in three parts alongside the opening sessions: chapters 1–5 after Week 1, chapters 6–10 after Week 2, and chapters 11–15 after Week 3. Beuttler's account of learning to recognize God's presence runs underneath the first three weeks on hearing God's voice.
• Week 4 — The Practice of the Presence of God, Brother Lawrence. Part I only, "The Conversations," about eight pages. Assigned with the session on prayer, and paired with an exercise in practicing unceasing prayer during an ordinary routine task.
• Week 4 — The Necessity of Prayer, E. M. Bounds. Further reading on prayer from the same session.
• Week 5 — Glory: Experiencing the Atmosphere of Heaven, Ruth Ward Heflin. Read with the session on encountering God through worship.
• Week 6 — the Five-Step Healing Model, John Wimber. A fifty-minute video watched before Week 7, which teaches and practices a four-step prayer model for healing the sick.
